About
phpBible.org was originally created in 2004 by Danny Carlton to serve as an installable Bible package for web sites. It included the King James version of the Bible, Strong's Concordance and a Hebrew/Greek lexicon. It was (and still is) provided free of charge and was used on numerous ministry and church web sites across the internet. Eventually, though, technology changed and it was replaced by KJBible.org and then myOpenBible.org. But a devoted user base had been established which used the original site, so it was restored and a new design was implimented, as well as a location for the original site. Now almost 19 years after its first launch, it's being offered with an even newer design and hopefully a functional interface to satisfy the needs of the users across the internet.

How to Search
How to Search
Find exact chapters and/or verses by typing the book, chapter, and/or verse in the search box.
Example: John 3:16Find verses containing two or more words you want by typing them in, separated by a space.
Example: Christ mercyFind verses containing an exact phrase by enclosing it in quotation marks.
Example: "for God so loved the world"Find verses containing partial words by using the wildcard *.
Example: love* (returns love, loves, loved, lovely, etc.)Warning: do not combine quotes and wild card.

Outline A chapter outline is provided as well as a book outline excerpted from John MacArthur's introduction to the books.
Commentaries Commentaries for the chapter from 10 well-known theological sources are provided.
Dictionary When the Dictionary tool is selected, words available from Easton's Dictionary of the Bible will be highlighted. Clicking the word will make the definition appear in the tools section.
Lexicons When the Lexicon tool is selected, words keyed to Strong's Concordance will be highlighted. Clicking the word will make either the Strong's or the IPD lexicon definition appear in the tools section.
Introduction Book introductions to the selected book by eight, well-known theological sources are provided.
Hebrew/Greek The Greek or Hebrew version of the selected text.
Filter (keyword search) The filter provides a list of Bible sections to filter the word search and shows the results produced by each filter.

6¶Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.7When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.8Let his days be few; and let another take his office.9Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.10Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.11Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.12Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.13Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.14Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the Lord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.15Let them be before the Lord continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.16Because that he remembered not to show mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.17As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.18As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.19Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.20Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the Lord, and of them that speak evil against my soul.
