About
phpBible.org was originally created in 2004 by Danny Carlton to serve as an installable Bible package for web sites. It included the King James version of the Bible, Strong's Concordance and a Hebrew/Greek lexicon. It was (and still is) provided free of charge and was used on numerous ministry and church web sites across the internet. Eventually, though, technology changed and it was replaced by KJBible.org and then myOpenBible.org. But a devoted user base had been established which used the original site, so it was restored and a new design was implimented, as well as a location for the original site. Now almost 19 years after its first launch, it's being offered with an even newer design and hopefully a functional interface to satisfy the needs of the users across the internet.

How to Search
How to Search
Find exact chapters and/or verses by typing the book, chapter, and/or verse in the search box.
Example: John 3:16Find verses containing two or more words you want by typing them in, separated by a space.
Example: Christ mercyFind verses containing an exact phrase by enclosing it in quotation marks.
Example: "for God so loved the world"Find verses containing partial words by using the wildcard *.
Example: love* (returns love, loves, loved, lovely, etc.)Warning: do not combine quotes and wild card.

Outline A chapter outline is provided as well as a book outline excerpted from John MacArthur's introduction to the books.
Commentaries Commentaries for the chapter from 10 well-known theological sources are provided.
Dictionary When the Dictionary tool is selected, words available from Easton's Dictionary of the Bible will be highlighted. Clicking the word will make the definition appear in the tools section.
Lexicons When the Lexicon tool is selected, words keyed to Strong's Concordance will be highlighted. Clicking the word will make either the Strong's or the IPD lexicon definition appear in the tools section.
Introduction Book introductions to the selected book by eight, well-known theological sources are provided.
Hebrew/Greek The Greek or Hebrew version of the selected text.
Filter (keyword search) The filter provides a list of Bible sections to filter the word search and shows the results produced by each filter.

Hosea 1:1-11
The word of the Lord that came unto Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.
2¶The beginning of the word of the Lord by Hosea. And the Lord said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the Lord.3So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.4And the Lord said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel.5And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.6And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Loruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.7But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the Lord their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.8¶Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.9Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.10Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.11Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.
