About
phpBible.org was originally created in 2004 by Danny Carlton to serve as an installable Bible package for web sites. It included the King James version of the Bible, Strong's Concordance and a Hebrew/Greek lexicon. It was (and still is) provided free of charge and was used on numerous ministry and church web sites across the internet. Eventually, though, technology changed and it was replaced by KJBible.org and then myOpenBible.org. But a devoted user base had been established which used the original site, so it was restored and a new design was implimented, as well as a location for the original site. Now almost 19 years after its first launch, it's being offered with an even newer design and hopefully a functional interface to satisfy the needs of the users across the internet.

How to Search
How to Search
Find exact chapters and/or verses by typing the book, chapter, and/or verse in the search box.
Example: John 3:16Find verses containing two or more words you want by typing them in, separated by a space.
Example: Christ mercyFind verses containing an exact phrase by enclosing it in quotation marks.
Example: "for God so loved the world"Find verses containing partial words by using the wildcard *.
Example: love* (returns love, loves, loved, lovely, etc.)Warning: do not combine quotes and wild card.

Outline A chapter outline is provided as well as a book outline excerpted from John MacArthur's introduction to the books.
Commentaries Commentaries for the chapter from 10 well-known theological sources are provided.
Dictionary When the Dictionary tool is selected, words available from Easton's Dictionary of the Bible will be highlighted. Clicking the word will make the definition appear in the tools section.
Lexicons When the Lexicon tool is selected, words keyed to Strong's Concordance will be highlighted. Clicking the word will make either the Strong's or the IPD lexicon definition appear in the tools section.
Introduction Book introductions to the selected book by eight, well-known theological sources are provided.
Hebrew/Greek The Greek or Hebrew version of the selected text.
Filter (keyword search) The filter provides a list of Bible sections to filter the word search and shows the results produced by each filter.

But Job answered and said,
2How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?3How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?4To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?5¶Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.6Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.7He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.8He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.9He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.10He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.11The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.12He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.13By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.14Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?
